A practical training course for those of you teaching or supporting children and young people in a range of settings.

This course is also available via face-to-face training

This training will provide you with:

  • A wealth of information and an opportunity to share experiences with other teachers, teaching assistants (TAs), early years practitioners and others working with children and young people who have social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Practical advice and strategies which are easy to implement class/learning rooms and the wider school/setting environment including how to be a social, emotional and mental health aware setting (SEMH Aware)
  • Language Builders for Social, Emotional and Mental Health, a practical resource containing an abundance of tips, ideas and strategies
  • Registration with OCN London to enable you to achieve accreditation at level 2 or 3 (accredited courses only)

Eligibility criteria: Participants need to have achieved accreditation at level 2 or 3 for an Elklan Speech and Language Support for 0-3s, 3-5s, 5-11s, 11-16s, Post-16s, SLD, ASD or Vulnerable Young People core course prior to enrolling on this course or be an SaLT.

*This is an accredited course and so you will need to actively engage with the training and complete a learning log. To do this you should expect to set aside around 4½ hours weekly.

This will include:

  • 1 to 1½ hours to complete the online session and prepare observations etc. for the live webinar
  • 1 hour to attend the live webinar
  • 1½-2 hours to plan, implement knowledge and strategies learnt and write-up the plan, observations and evaluation in an online e-log
