As any teacher or lecturer will know the day of an inspection is a very anxious one. This is also true for Elklan. Twice a year the external verifier (EV) visits to check the quality of our internal verification and the tutors' marking of the learners' work. The questions niggle away, will she be content with the standard? Will more work need to be done to ensure Elklan maintains its reputation for quality and effectiveness?
We are delighted to report that when Jan Kelly (AptEd, EV) visited Henrietta last week she continued to be very impressed with the work the learners produced, the marking by our tutors and the internal verification by the Elklan team. She provided a detailed report of her visit but the comments below sum up the tone of the report:
'Assessor (tutor) comments across the board were of a very good standard. They are encouraging, personal to the learner, they reinforce learning and give the learner very clear guidelines regarding what additional evidence needs to be provided to ensure that the criteria is met. Evidence is robust throughout all the portfolios which are well-organised and therefore easy to follow. It is very clear that the learners have fully engaged with the programme and their enthusiasm is clearly reflected in the work they have produced. Their pride in their work is very evident. The administration of the programmes is also to be commended, I had two folders of clearly labelled forms making it very easy for me to match these to the portfolios sampled. This referencing follows through to the labelling of envelopes the work arrives in and appears on all the paperwork.'
We couldn't do this without the commitment and dedication of all our tutors who work tirelessly throughout the UK to enable learners to be as effective as possible in their settings for the benefit of the children and young people with whom they work. A massive pat on the back and thanks to all!
All speech and language therapists or teachers who work in an advisory capacity and have experience and qualifications in working with pupils with speech, language and communication needs are welcome to join our growing team. We now have over 2,500 tutors across the UK and Ireland making a difference to parents & caregivers, early years settings, schools and colleges through delivering Elklan in their locality.
